OUR BIG HAIRY AUDACIOUS GOAL
THE STATUS QUO JUST DOESN’T CUT IT FOR US; WE’RE IN IT TO MAKE A BIG, HAIRY, LONG TERM IMPACT.
A Big Hairy Audacious Goal (or BHAG as we call it) is “. . .a strategic business statement, which is created to focus an organization on a single, medium-long term, organization-wide goal which is audacious, likely to be externally questionable, but not internally regarded as impossible.”
Since we love doing what others think is impossible, our BHAG is to
Create the world’s first metric on hunger in developed nations.
After all, you can’t solve a problem if you don’t understand it.
THE ROLE OF HIDDEN HUNGER
In developed countries, it’s challenging for people to understand the extent of poverty and hunger in their own community, which is why it’s is often referred to as a “hidden problem”. There are countless metrics that look at hunger and poverty in developing countries, but few that apply to developed ones.
But that doesn’t mean that hunger doesn’t exist in these countries, it just means it must be classified differently and that someone needs to create the framework to do it.
THAT’S WHERE WE COME IN
By unifying food banks around the world through the only internationally standardized intake process and reporting system for food banks, we can start to understand hunger and develop the metrics to better conceptualize it.
This data will take the hypothesizing out of hunger relief, so we can start focusing our efforts on really addressing the problem.
IT STARTS WITH YOU
The first step in this process is to ensure we can collect and accurately report on food bank usage on a local, regional and national level.
Through the involvement of our global strategic partners, we can increase the accessibility of our software and bring together the best minds on poverty research and advocacy to look at one of the world’s most pressing issues.
